MONDRAGON Corporation

7min

The Corporation has three distinct levels: the member cooperatives make up the first level; the next level consists of so-called divisions or groupings of cooperatives and the uppermost level of the various governing bodies.

Summary

The divisions are generally organized as “second grade” cooperatives (i.e., cooperatives whose members are themselves cooperatives), typically made up of firms in the same industries. The principal governing bodies in the uppermost level of the structure are the Congress, which meets annually, made up of elected representatives of the member cooperatives, the Standing Committee (with functions comparable to those of the Governing Council of a cooperative) and the General Council for management and coordination.
